Mobility thanks to European Curriculum

The curriculum is common to all fourteen European schools in Europe. It is written and quality assured by Ministries of Education of the 28 member states of the European Union. To foster multi-cultural education foreign language tuition is essential. All pupils are taught in the language of their section, and mainly by mother tongue speakers. First language (normally mother tongue) and first foreign language are compulsory from the age of 6. Other subjects covered throughout the education are mathematics, science, history, geography, ethics/ religion and physical education. From year 3 of the secondary cycle a number of subjects will be studied in the pupil’s first foreign language (English / French or German). There is a range of options for years 4-5 including Music, Economics and a fourth language and a greater range of choices in years 6-7.

Truly European staff

All full-time teachers are appointed by their national governments, after a thorough selection procedure.

The 20 hectare campus is surrounded by a large forest in the heart of Flanders. The canteen serves warm and cold lunches and sandwiches. Pupils and teachers can keep fit every day by doing sports in the swimming pool, at the football pitches, sports halls, athletics tracks, tennis, basketball and volleyball courts. Many extra-curricular school trips and activities are organized every year, connected to the curriculum.

European by nature

Developing students into active, conscientious and multilingual Europeans lies at the heart of the school’s educational philosophy. Student’s opinions, school life participation and active involvement in the everyday running of the school are promoted. The individualized approach and family feel stand out.
