We are often better able to comprehend and assimilate information when we act out, investigate and play with the subject matter. At Tightrope, we believe that theatre leaves it’s most powerful impression when placed in an educational context, and educational experiences are most memorable when they actively engage the imagination, creativity and problem-solving skills of the learner.

Working alongside local schools, associations, artists and educators, we have sought to be part of arts-based activities and training that focus on language learning and citizenship. Tightrope has headed initiatives that promote interdisciplinary arts education, cross-curricular schools work, alternative approaches to language teaching, and multilingual performance work. Overall, we value the process of creating theatre and the integration of drama techniques into the traditional learning environment.

As educational drama practitioners, we are interested in exploring communicative approaches to teaching; approaches that bring learning to life and demand an active engagement on the part of students and teachers alike. Our portfolio of work to date provides a brief outline of every project we have run; these range from workshops and courses to events and performance work. As reflective practitioners, we are concerned with the need to document, experiment and evaluate our own work. As such, we conduct ongoing research into arts and culture in education. If you would like more information about what we do, please follow our blog and don’t hesitate to get in touch with us.
